MARTIN KIELTY

Hello! I’m a full-time writer in Glasgow, Scotland. Most of my output is connected with popular culture – I’ve written several non-fiction books on rock and pop history. I’m also an author of historic fiction, along with writing for magazines, newspapers, radio, TV and public relations clients. I’m a former newspaper journalist who threw it all away for the rock’n’roll lifestyle. I managed the Sensational Alex Harvey Band and The Rezillos in the 2000s and went on to a limited but fun career as a drummer, before becoming a full-time rock journalist. Now I’m a member of FingerHalo, starring Jo Callis (The Human League, The Rezillos) and I spend my weekends discovering the best real ale across Britain in a purple VW campervan with my wife Claire. The two cats stay at home.

FINGERHALO

I have the honour of playing drums for and managing FingerHalo, starring Jo Callis (The Human League, The Rezillos). We're working on our debut album now - and here's the lyric video for our first track, Confusion...

Here’s the opening episode, Born In A Storm…  Thursday, October 14, 1723 […]

The Rule Book

Okay, it’s not quite a novella, meaning that, three books into my personal challenge, I’ve gone and thrown it away. But The Rule Book, based on the 300-year history of a Lake District pub called The Golden Rule, is published next month. As a nice wee twist, I actually completed writing it today, in the […]
