MARTIN KIELTY

I'm a full-time creative based in Glasgow, Scotland, with three books in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Permanent Collection. I've written a total of 17 books so far, and I'm also a rock journalist writing for American and British websites and magazines. I'm a regular TV and radio presenter and guest, and an award-nominated PR creative. I also write for TV, radio and the theatre. I'm the eldest member of the award-winning Kielty Brothers writing team, drummer and keyboardist, former manager of the Sensational Alex Harvey Band and The Rezillos, and current manager of Jo Callis (The Human League, The Rezillos). And I still find time for a pint.

THE BEATSTALKERS: SCOTLAND'S NUMBER 1 BEAT GROUP

‘The Beatstalkers are the story of Scottish music. They were the first, and they were the greatest.’ For the first time, the memoirs of ‘Scotland’s Beatles’ is told in their own words. Davie Lennox, Alan Mair, Eddie Campbell and Ronnie Smith collaborated with Martin Kielty to tell how they started as a school band, became the biggest act in the country, worked with David Bowie, the Kinks and many others – and how it all came to an end. Every band in Scotland has since followed the trail blazed by The Beatstalkers. This book is an essential record of teamwork, passion and friendship, and a warning to anyone who thinks they might want to be famous.
